American 250 Project
Michael Bottiglieri American 250 Project Nov 13, 2025 12:00 PM

Son of an Airforce Master Sergeant, Michael Bottiglieri and his family moved around before settling in San Antonio during the late 1980s. Bottiglieri received multiple scholarships to attend Texas A&M University associated with the Corps of Cadets and military service. During his time at Texas A&M, he served in various leadership opportunities within the Army ROTC detachment and the Corps of Cadets, including Rudder’s Ranger Company, Ross Volunteer Company, Commander of Cadet 4th Battalion, the Army ROTC basketball team and orienteering team. He graduated from the School of Business as a distinguished Military Graduate. He also holds a master’s degree from the Naval Post Graduate School.

Upon graduation from Texas A&M, Bottiglieri entered a 27-year career of public service in the United States Army. He has had nine combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan and participated in every military campaign of both conflicts. The majority of Bottiglieri’s military career was spent in operational combat units associated with mechanized, airborne, ranger and special operations infantry units. During his service, he accumulated numerous awards, decorations and skill badges for service and actions during combat operations.

Upon completion of his military service, Bottiglieri ventured into higher education. He started out advising the former dean of The Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M University, Gen. Mark Welsh, on philanthropic support for higher education programs dedicated to public service, which led to the creation of the Bush School teaching site in Washington D.C., the expansion of the Intelligence Studies Program, the Center for Grand Strategy, the Center for Non-Profits and Philanthropy and the City and County Governance Program. His last position before retiring was as vice president of Engagement for the Texas A&M Foundation, where he advised eight deans, the Commandant of Cadets and the vice president of Student Affairs on their business plans for philanthropic support.

In his spare time, Bottiglieri enjoys owning and operating LM Ranch, a commercial and registered angus cattle operation, with his family and keeping up with the kids’ numerous sporting/social events. Bottiglieri gives back to the community as serving as a member of the BCS Chamber of Commerce, volunteering on an advisory board for a startup company that’s working on technology to improve the survivability/lethality of soldiers on the battlefield, and participating on the Brazos Valley Memorial Veterans Board.
