The purpose of this project is to prepare and educate our community about the dangers of an opioid and/or fentanyl overdose. How to identify the symptoms of an overdose and how to administer Naloxone to a save life. Not only are we preparing them, we are supplying them with the opioid overdose rescue kits. We assembled 150 kits.

We partnered with Dr. Ninfa Pena-Purcell with Texas Opioid Task Force to assess the need of educating our community and making the Narcans available. There is an opioid/fentanyl crisis happening in Texas. We want to help prepare and protect our community by educating others and distributing the kits.

These Kits will save lives. Narcan is the brand name of a medicine called Naloxone. Naloxone will rapidly reverse the effects of an opioid and or fentanyl overdose. The kits are Opioid Overdose Rescue Kits.

We hope that more people will be educated and have a recue kit available just incase they come across an overdose victim. Opioid and fentanyl are pain medication that is prescribed, so an overdose can happen to someone that may have taken too many pills, or what is happening now with our youth, they are experimenting with drugs that may by laced with a lethal dose of fentanyl. This kits are good to have available. We had uber drivers, moms, grandmas and local non profit employees come for the training.
