This weekend was the Texas Mission of Mercy — Brazos Valley Event. Texas Mission of Mercy provides free dental care to those in need, with treatments starting at 6 am and ending around 5 pm. Services included cleanings, fillings, root canals, extractions, and some dentures and partials. Over 500 volunteers made this event possible, with Christ Church serving as the home base.
There were 40 treatment chairs, including 8 for hygiene only. Over 100 dentists from around the state participated, along with oral surgeons, endodontists, and many local DDS. Hygienists, dental assistants, and pre-dental and dental school students from various schools, including UT and Texas A&M.
In total, 705 patients were treated, with 326 receiving hygiene treatments. Over 5,206 services were provided, resulting in $723,159.09 in free care over two 12-hour days. The TMOM committee did an outstanding job organizing and executing this event.
