Dr. Sonja Swiger is a Professor/Extension Entomologist with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. She received her PhD and Master of Science degrees from the University of Florida in 2007 and 2003, respectively, and her Bachelor of Science degree from Bethany College, WV in 2001.  Dr. Swiger is responsible for adult educational outreach and research projects state-wide related to livestock/veterinary entomology and serves as the Extension contact for mosquito issues. She has given over 1200 program presentations on insect pests of cattle and public health concern and insect management, published 33 Extension publications, and 13 peer reviewed journal articles. Dr. Swiger serves on the Texas A&M AgriLife New World Screwworm Task Force and has delivered over 180 presentations on the New World screwworm in Texas and throughout the United States to livestock producers.
